Assessing OPADD

The Ontario Partnership on Aging and Developmental Disabilities

We are interested in hearing your thoughts on continuing OPADD—potentially taking a different shape, while maintaining its core principles.

Please review the information below and take a few minutes to complete the form:

OPADD was formed 26 years ago.

  • In 1999, OPADD received funding from Health Canada to hold a symposium, followed by a five-year Ontario Trillium Foundation grant in 2004 for Aging and Developmental Disability projects across the Province.
  • From 2009 to 2019, OPADD and its regional committees, along with supporting agencies, secured local, regional, and provincial grants. Many projects focused on cross-sector education, breaking down barriers to supports and care, and promoting quality of life for people with developmental disabilities as they age.

OPADD’s key principle centres on collaboration between the Developmental and Seniors/Health sectors to best provide the support for individuals with developmental disabilities as they age. OPADD also seeks to promote the inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities as seniors, ensuring their access to services and supports as Ontario citizens.

OPADD does not have a formal membership or structure. OPADD has consistently encouraged grassroots innovation, with its projects helping to develop and foster regional committees.
