Inside the Guide
For caregivers, families and service providers
The guide that expedites the search for essential resources for persons with developmental disabilities.
What is in the Guide?
If you want a detailed outline of the contents of this Guide, just look at the Table of Contents. Here are some highlights of the Guide contents:
- If you are a service provider you may be interested in the Overview of Aging with a Developmental Disability, which includes a comprehensive clinical overview of aging as well as some historical background. You may also wish to review the Community and Health Services section, and/or the sections on Transitioning to Long-Term Care, and Decision Making.
During the consultation process to develop the Guide, service providers also requested information about specific spiritual and cultural resources, as well as tips on collaboration between community, developmental, and health sectors, so these have also been included.
- If you have a DD or are a caregiver or family member, you might want to review the section on Early Planning, which gives suggestions on planning and various tools. You might also wish to review the section on Finances.
